Well DUH!
We are being fed constant breaking news updates on the fighting in the Gaza Strip. Violence in that region is certainly nothing new. In fact, reports of skirmishes in the Middle East are generally met with a “what else is new” reaction. It isn’t alarming anymore. This latest episode has brought a few interesting things to the forefront.
Leaving behind all talk about Israel being “God’s chosen people” (which wouldn’t give them carte blanche permission to do whatever they please anyway), let’s look at it simply. There are those who would immediately say, “but this isn’t a simple issue”. Yes it is. Let’s all check our bleeding hearts and our pious platitudes at the door and let’s just be plainspoken and reasonable.
The latest outbreak in Gaza comes at the end of a 6-month cease-fire. The cease-fire was actually broken by Hamas when they decided to fire rockets across the southern Israeli border. Some of these rockets had a substantially longer range, endangering more people in the southern region of Israel. So Israel fights back by taking out Hamas targets and steadily increasing military pressure until Hamas decides to stop shooting at them. Maybe I’m oversimplifying the issue, but that’s the bullet point version of this latest ordeal.
So, basically, Hamas decides to act like a bunch of juvenile jackasses and launch unprovoked rocket attacks on civilian Israeli settlements. So when Israel comes back and kicks Hamas in their balls with an iron boot, Hamas starts whining to the U.N. and the U.N. starts whining to anyone who will listen. Boy that’s some real hardline war rhetoric there, Hamas. Bunch of pussies.
So what impact does this have on America? Aside from crude oil prices, basically none. Our only reasons for getting involved would be economic. And putting more money in the already-bloated pockets of corrupt big business jackoffs is hardly a good reason to endanger the sons and daughters of real Americans. (Hear that, Washington?)
Israel has the best intelligence & special operations unit on the planet in the Mossad. They have modern weaponry and they are a sovereign nation responding to an unprovoked attack. Israel’s approach has always been “The Chicago Way”, and I have always appreciated that about them. They find out who the suicide bomber was, then they roll in a few tanks and start shelling the town where he was born. They know they can’t send a message to the dead, so they seek to educate the living. The latest fighting in Gaza is no different. That’s the way they handle business. Leave them alone & let them do it. We certainly leave Hamas alone & let them fire rockets at other countries whenever the mood strikes them. If we’re going to be hands-off, then let’s be hands-off.
The U.N. is a loud-mouthed, know-nothing, do-nothing waste of time. It’s like a fat retarded guy who is trying to referee a football game wearing snow skis. Completely inadequate and ill-equipped for its proposed purpose. So the U.N. just needs to stand down & shut its stupid mouth. They’re just as corrupt as any other political body, and even more useless.
If Hamas wants to continue this asinine battle of attrition, so be it. If Israel wants to keep shoving its foot further up Hamas’ ass, go for it. We have plenty of domestic issues to iron out. If we’re already having to pump billions of fictional dollars into our own economy while trying to resolve an illegal war, the last thing we need to do is get entangled in a fist fight when they are capable of resolving it themselves.
Our own borders should be of infinitely greater interest to us than those of any other nation.
