Rediscovery

My musical taste has always been quite eclectic and included everything from Vivaldi to Metallica to Thomas Dolby. The main exception being country music. Save for a few old school outlaw songs and maybe one or two of the pop-ish new ones, I find the whole genre repulsive. Music with an edge has always particularly resonated with me. When industrial music and techno-metal started hitting big, I really started digging it. One of my favorite CDs that I have ever owned is the Spawn motion picture soundtrack. I love the combination of a dance groove and a metal edge.

That being said, I have really gotten into Rob Zombie lately. I have always liked his sound, but the cinemaphile in me appreciates the samples and the vibe he uses. It feels like you’re up late watching a horror B-movie marathon or something. I’m really digging it and am having fun with my rediscovery. It’s not a dark, angry, screaming thing. It’s more of a thing where I’m feeling some edgy groove with an off-kilter vibe. Good stuff.

And to the person who stole my Spawn CD: I’m going to dig through the ditches, burn through the witches, and slam in the back of your Drag-u-la.
