New Rant about Old Christine

With a possible end to the writers’ strike after the vote on Tuesday, I’m looking forward to getting some new episodes going. I’m not a huge TV watcher. Most of my prime-time viewing is done on Monday nights watching the CBS sitcom line-up. Well, at least it used to be. “The Big Bang Theory” is one of the funniest shows on television. I absolutely love it. It is a newer show, and as such they don’t have many episodes in the can. Rather than burn everyone out on the same 8 episodes, they changed the programming. Which is fine with me. The downside is that they brought back “The New Adventures of Old Christine”. That has got to be one of the worst freaking shows I have ever had the misfortune of wasting a half hour on.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has always been pretty. Even when she was on SNL way back in the day before marrying fellow SNL alumnus Brad Hall. She was good to look at, but she wasn’t funny. She has never been funny. On Seinfeld, she wasn’t funny. Everyone else was funny. And now, on the abysmal “Christine”, no one is funny. Couple Louis-Dreyfus’ lack of comedic timing and “Christine” co-star Wanda Sykes’ insufferable voice, and you have an unholy concoction that is sure to incite suicidal tendencies in even the most upbeat, well-balanced of souls.

Come on writers. Give us the good stuff and keep those big, ugly studio executives from force-feeding us this tripe.
